Research and development director Dr. Armando Reosura won the top two spots in the Department of Science and Technology VI Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit last August 29 to 31 at SM City Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Dr. Reosura’s “Junction Box” entry won as The 2017 Utility Model Category Regional Winner, while his “pen-holding trainer” entry won first runner up. Another College of Industrial Technology faculty member Mr. Ronnie Iwayan won 2nd runner up for his entry “Mixing and Extruding Apparatus”. Mrs. Maricel Daradar also of CIT and Dr. Lydia Gorriceta of the College of Education were also finalists in the said contest. RICE 2017 was a competition for the best inventions, utility models, industrial designs, and creative researches of professionals and students alike.
Meanwhile, six faculty members were awarded for their research presentations in two separate conferences of national and international scales. Dr. Armando R. Reosura, Angelie P. Lopez, Dr. Aileen B. Esmeralda, and Jessica Y. Aguirre all won a Floro Crisologo Award for Best Oral Presenter in their research streams during the 1st National Research and Development Congress on Technology and Vocational Education, co-hosted by the College with the University of Northern Philippines last September 6 to 8 at the Tadena Hall of the UNP.


On the other hand, Enna S. Bodoso won Best Abstract and Dyan T. Gapulan won Best in Oral Presentation in the Asian Conference on Academic Integrity (ACAI) 2017 last October 30 to 31 at the Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok, Thailand. Earlier in the year, Ricky Acanto presented his research in the International Conference on Interdisciplinary Research in Higher Education last June 28 to 30 in Siem Reap, Cambodia. He also went on to be awarded as Best in Oral Presentation.
